As of today, the snowpack for the Salmon River Watershed is 22% above average. This means the Middle Fork of the Salmon River promises high flows and excitement in June. Our July and August trips should be perfect for families and most trips should launch at Boundary Creek and cover the entire 100 miles. Professional Guide School is meant for those hoping to guide for ECHO or another outfitter. Here you will learn much of what you need to know about becoming a river guide including reading water, rowing oar boats, loading gear and some camp cooking. Recreational Guide School is for those looking to further their whitewater techniques for personal enrichment. You will be shown how to maneuver a raft safely and effectively without the emphasis on loading gear and preparing camp meals.

Phil & Mary DeRiemer lead kayaking trips in the United States, Ecuador, and Bhutan. ECHO has hosted their trips down the Middle Fork of the Salmon for the past eight seasons and both Phil & Mary have become a big part of the ECHO family.

The ingredients
10 moderately squishy avocados
6 tomatoes
2 yellow onions
3 Jalapeno peppers
1 bunch of cilantro
4 limes
Salt

Directions
Fill up your ECHO cup with a fresh Riverita™. Mash the avocados, tomatoes, onions, and peppers in a bowl. The 3 Jalapeno peppers will make it spicy, so add more or less depending on your tolerance. Cut the limes in half and squeeze lime juice on top. Add salt to taste. Continue tasting the guacamole and drinking your Riverita™ until you deem it perfect.

The two most important parts of this recipe
1. You’ll want to get just the right amount of salt. This may take many taste tests.

ECHO’s yachting trips along Turkey’s Turquoise Coast are a wonderful way to see the country. The tour includes the highlights of Istanbul as well as the ruins at Ephesus, Didyma, Xanthos, and Perge and the church of St. Nicholas (yes, Santa Claus). We spend six days and nights on a beautiful yacht, or gulet, a wooden motor-sailor made by Turks specifically for the coastal waters. Each day there is a tour onshore, but we are also welcome to stay on the yacht. Each evening we anchor in a remote cove, where we have time to snorkel, swim, and relax.

You also have the option of extending your trip to include a drive across the Anatalian plateau for a tour of Cappadocia, home of perhaps the most exotic landscape and unusual houses in the world. There are even entire underground cities that go eight stories down, housed up to 20,000 people, and must have been the inspiration of many of the sites in Indiana Jones movies.

These are tours for people who do not ordinarily like tours. Trip size is limited to 14 guests, and the average size is around 8.
